Brown spot is a fungal disease caused by Cochliobolus miyabeanus. It affects rice, causing significant yield losses if not managed properly, especially in nutrient-deficient soils.
Symptoms
- Small, circular to oval, dark brown to black spots on leaves.
- Spots may have a gray or whitish center.
- Severe infection can lead to leaf yellowing and drying.
Preventive Measures
- Use disease-resistant varieties.
- Treat seeds with fungicides before sowing.
- Ensure balanced fertilization (avoid Potassium deficiency).
