General Information

Brown spot is a fungal disease caused by Cochliobolus miyabeanus. It affects rice, causing significant yield losses if not managed properly, especially in nutrient-deficient soils.

Symptoms
  • Small, circular to oval, dark brown to black spots on leaves.
  • Spots may have a gray or whitish center.
  • Severe infection can lead to leaf yellowing and drying.
Preventive Measures
  • Use disease-resistant varieties.
  • Treat seeds with fungicides before sowing.
  • Ensure balanced fertilization (avoid Potassium deficiency).
