General Information
Bacterial Leaf Blight, caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, is one of the most destructive diseases of rice worldwide, thriving in wet and warm conditions.
Symptoms
- Water-soaked to yellowish stripes on leaf blades or starting at leaf tips that may increase in length and width.
- Lesions turn gray-white to yellow and eventually die.
- In severe cases (kresek), seedlings wilt and die.
Preventive Measures
- Plant resistant varieties.
- Ensure proper plant spacing for good air circulation.
- Avoid excessive nitrogen application and ensure balanced nutrition.
